Carlos Sainz, who won pole position in qualifying ahead of the American GP, believes Red Bull and Max Verstappen are the favorites for the race.
Sainz took his second pole position of the season, passing his teammate and Max Verstappen in qualifying in America, and is happy to finally be on pole after coming so close for so long.
The Spaniard added that despite today's pole position, the favorites for the race are still Red Bull and Max Verstappen.
Speaking after the qualifying session, Sainz said, "It was fun. It was very tricky with the wind and with these cars, every corner is a different adventure. You don't know how much grip you're going to find or how much grip to expect."
"I was still able to put together a good lap without making any mistakes and I got pole, I was very close to pole in qualifying and I've been waiting for this for a long time."
"I'll be honest, I think the favorite for tomorrow is still Red Bull. They normally have better race pace than us and they beat us in the race. Because Max is doing a good job and Red Bull have a good race car."
